Finally Seen

Kelly Yang

Lina flew from China to America to be with her family after 5 years apart. She was close to her grandma, Lao Lao, and felt sad leaving her in a retirement home. In America, things were tough. Her parents worked hard, and Lina struggled with English, but a kind ESL teacher helped her. She made friends but also faced bullying.

I liked the book because Lina was shy at first, but she got stronger and more confident. She missed her grandma and felt guilty about leaving her alone. The story showed how hard life can be for new immigrants. I learned to be brave and dream big, and it had cool facts about farming too.
